VELOCITY VR-1 / Innovation 425
On
July 26, 2002, the new VELOCITY VR-1 set the
APBA & UIM World Kilo Speed Record. Steve
Kildahl and Bob Spitulski drove the record
setting VR-1 with 500 Hp MerCruiser engines that
were certified with accurate horse power. The
Steve Stepp designed hull out ran all other
manufactures' boats including stepped and
ventilated bottom hull designs.
In 2005, the VELOCITY VR-1 Team kept
breaking that record every year; they
toped out at 80.95 mph with
an Innovation built 425 HP Engine!
Now that's cookin' with grease!!
Once again the designed and built VELOCITY
hull proved ultimate supremacy against all other
hulls, including every "stepped and ventilated"
hull entered.

On
August 21, 2005, V & M Offshore Racing
Team of Chris Volosin and David Murphy dominated
in its class at the
Panama City
Beach Super Boat Grand Prix. "Water
was smooth and easy on Saturday's test day for
the VR-1," stated Chris Volosin, who is owner of
the boat. Sunday presented a different
scenario; the rollers of the Gulf of Mexico were
wild! The 2005 VR-1 was absolutely flawless! It
was quite a challenge with 5 boats entered in
the class, but the P5-17 VELOCITY was victorious
by just one minute boasting a finish time of
00:35:56.

The final VELOCITY victory at the 2005 Grand
Prix Race in Washington, NC
went to the P4-20 "Undecided" Racing
Team. "This
boat is the hull that recorded the first 100MPH
run of any offshore V-bottom boat in history,
back in 1981," said Steve Stepp, President of
. "In fact, that hull
is the basis of the new 322 that Initial Marine
Corp. is producing in 2006." Undecided uses
twin 500HP+ staggered engines and is a replica
of the original record breaking hull of 25 years
ago.
