Visiting the Velocity Sanford Facility Before You Order an Offshore Performance Boat

If you are serious about an offshore performance boat, visit the builder before you order. Walking through our Sanford facility lets you see build quality and layup detail up close, compare hulls in person, and talk through options face to face, which photos alone cannot do.

At Velocity Powerboats, we have been building performance boats by hand for decades, and we are happy to show you how. To set up a visit, reach out to our team or call (877) 354-1159.

What does a visit to our Sanford facility reveal about build quality?

It shows you what goes into the boat, not just what it looks like on the outside. In person, you can look at the finish, the fit of the hull and deck, and the details that tell you how a boat was put together.

Every Velocity is handcrafted, with a solid build of hull and deck. Our hull design uses what we call Hydrodynamic Hull Technology, shaping the transom, strakes, chines, and keel to work together. Those are features you understand better when you can run a hand along them than when you see them in a photo.

Our president, Scott McCormick, personally inspects and tunes every boat before delivery. That level of attention is something you can feel when you walk the shop floor and talk with the people who build the boats.

Our facility is at 227 Power Court in Sanford, close to Lake Monroe and the St. Johns River. If you are coming from out of state, Orlando Sanford International Airport is nearby, which makes a visit easy to plan around a short trip.

Why does seeing the layup and construction in person matter?

Because how a boat is built shapes how it runs, how it handles rough water, and how it holds up over time. Construction details are hard to judge from a spec sheet.

Take our 22 Punisher. It uses a hybrid carbon layup, built to be strong, safe, and confident in handling. Our 262CC and 330CC center consoles ride on a race-proven hull designed to handle rough water. Seeing those boats side by side helps you understand how each one is built for a different kind of day on the water.

A customer once came to our Sanford facility after studying photos for weeks. He wanted to get himself a retirement gift and was looking for a performance boat. As we walked through the shop, he started asking about things he had not noticed in the pictures.

Seeing the boats helped him ask the right questions and turn what had been a dream into something real. That is exactly what a visit is for.

What options can you talk through face to face?

Almost everything that shapes your boat: the model, the length, the engine package, and the details that make it fit how you plan to run it. A conversation in person is faster and clearer than a long email thread.

Our lineup runs from the 22 Punisher and 230 SC at 22 feet 11 inches, through the 260VR, 290 SC, and VR1, up to the Raptor, 430VRX, and 420 SC in the 40 to 42 foot range. Center console options include the 260 Bay, 262CC, and 330CC.

Power is a big part of the conversation. The 260VR is offered with single or twin Mercury or Mercury Racing outboards, and the 290 SC is available with inboard or outboard options from Mercury and Mercury Racing.

Face to face, you can talk about how you will use the boat, from fast runs offshore to weekends with family, and which hull and power setup makes sense. You also get to meet the team behind the build. Learn more about our history and our approach.

Why is visiting better than buying an offshore performance boat sight unseen?

Because an offshore performance boat is a major investment, and the details matter. Photos can show color and shape, but they cannot show scale, seating position, how the cockpit feels, or how the boat is finished in places a camera does not reach.

Standing next to a boat helps you judge size in a way numbers cannot. A 28 foot 6 inch boat and a 40 foot boat feel very different when you are standing in the cockpit, and that affects trailering, storage, and how many people you plan to bring along.

A visit also gives you a feel for the company. Velocity introduced the world's first pad-bottom, notched transom hull design at the 1978 Miami Boat Show, and our racing history runs deep. Hearing that story from the people who carry it on adds context you will not get from a listing.

Most of all, a visit gives you confidence. When you place your order, you know exactly what you are getting and who is building it.

How should you prepare for your visit?

Browse our gallery first, make a short list of the boats that catch your eye, and write down your questions. You will get far more out of the visit if you arrive with a clear idea of what you want to see.

Our gallery includes center consoles and performance sport and offshore boats. Use it to narrow down the styles you like, then think about how you plan to use the boat, where you will keep it, and the kind of water you will run most often.

Bring any notes about engine preferences, seating needs, or features you have in mind. If you are comparing builders, bring those questions too. We would rather you leave with every answer you need. Call ahead so we can plan your time in the shop.
